Painted during a healing prayer service. The flesh colored undertones represent both the body of Christ, and humanity. His blood was poured out for all mankind, and the multi-racial flesh-tones represent all the people of the world. On top of this, I painted 39 streaks of red, representing the lashes received by Christ before the crucifixion. The stripes are painted in 13 sets of 3, as a 3-part whip may have been used during the flogging. Amidst this, this blood of Christ is splattered and poured out for our healing. The words that kept coming to my mind were “By His stripes we ARE healed”.
